TIP OF THE WEEK
Watch the Moon
Tip of the Week by Jeff Smith

Moon and Trout
Just like other species of fish, the moon phase can alter trout too. There are many factors affecting when a trout will feed, but the moon is a major one. You will notice the peak feeding time for fish during a full moon is later in the morning and late afternoon.

This is caused by the fact that the trout cannot see at night to feed. When there is very little moon they feed better right when the sun comes up because, they could not see during the night to feed. However, All this can be thrown out the window if there is cloud cover.

This will help you find the most optimal time to fish. If I start early in the morning and the conditions are good and they are not feeding I am sure they will feed before the morning is over and when they do it is usually hot during that time. Watching the moon and the moon phases will allow you to find the best time to hit the stream. Find a magazine with the moon phases and use it to your advantage.
